Play Therapy with Children in Sydney: Creative Support for Growth and Healing
Play Therapy for Children ages 6+
At the Shirah Shulman clinic, I provide play therapy in Sydney for children who need a safe and supportive space to express themselves, process emotions, and build resilience.
Play therapy uses the natural language of children: play, to help them explore feelings, develop coping skills, and strengthen their sense of self. It is especially helpful for children experiencing anxiety, behavioural challenges, family changes, or trauma.
I also provide specialised support for neurodivergent children, including those with autism (ASD) and ADHD, using neuro‑affirming approaches that celebrate each child’s unique strengths and needs.
How Play Therapy Works
A Safe and Creative Space
Play therapy provides a non‑judgmental environment where children can express themselves freely.
Emotional Support and Regulation
Through play, children learn to identify and manage emotions in healthy ways.
Building Confidence and Resilience
Sessions encourage self‑esteem, problem‑solving, and coping strategies.
Trauma‑Informed and Neuro‑Affirming Approach
Therapy honours each child’s lived experience, supporting healing and growth for both neurotypical and neurodivergent children.
I work with children from age 6, tailoring sessions to their developmental stage and individual needs.
Meet Shirah
With over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist and art therapist, I bring warmth, creativity, and systemic awareness to my work with children.
My style is relational and collaborative, offering a space where children feel safe to explore their inner world. I draw on play therapy, trauma‑informed psychotherapy, and neuro‑affirming approaches for ASD and ADHD to support children in building resilience and emotional well-being.
Sessions provide a validating environment where children can move toward greater confidence, connection, and relief.
